LAHORE, May 18: Consul General of U.S Nina Fite has said the United States is committed to promoting economic development of Pakistan�One important element of this commitment is our support to local farmers with programmes to build their business capacity and generate higher incomes that will improve their lives and the lives of their families,� she said while speaking at a certificates distribution ceremony among graduates of the livestock export training programme supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) here on Friday.
She said such training programmes would leave a positive impact on the lives of Pakistanis through the promotion of livestock entrepreneurship. She said the Global Good Agricultural Practices (Global-GAP) was an international private body that set voluntary international standards for the certification of agricultural production processes.
�Certification under the Global-GAP is becoming very important and the requirement of many retailers in European and international markets. The training enabled participants to implement Global-GAP standards in Pakistan for the first time,� she said.
The training was organized by the Agribusiness Support Fund (ASF) with funding from the USAID. Thirty people across the livestock sector participated in the three-day training programme held in Lahore

Four trucks carrying supplies for US cross Torkham

PESHAWAR: Four containers laden with supplies for the US Embassy in Kabul crossed into Afghanistan from Pakistan via Torkham border post, officials said on Friday.
A local official while confirming supplies to the US Embassy via Torkham said he could not say when the cargo had been transported.
�Pakistan government has never put restriction on the transportation of supplies for the diplomatic missions, including the American Embassy in Kabul,� a senior official, who is dealing with the matter, said. �Ban on the transportation of Nato supplies is still intact.�
There were reports that the four trucks had crossed into Afghanistan on Friday.
Pakistan closed land routes used for carrying Nato supplies to Afghanistan in protest against last year�s Nato air strikes on the Salala border post in which 24 Pakistani troops were killed.
AFP adds: Pakistan allowed the four containers to cross into Afghanistan for the first time following a six-month blockade.
The trucks were permitted to cross as President Asif Ali Zardari prepares to meet Nato leaders at a key summit in Chicago, accepting a last-minute invitation after Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar indicated Pakistan was willing to review the blockade.
�I can�t give you the exact number but a lot more will go to Afghanistan in coming days. These all are diplomatic shipments � I mean non-Nato supplies,� one of the officials said.
In Kabul, the US embassy said it could not confirm the shipment.
Almost 300 containers of US embassy supplies, including stationery, computers and printers, are understood to have been stranded in Pakistan by the blockade.
A customs official at the border in Torkham, Khyber Agency, said they had received a list of 300 containers which would cross into Afghanistan in the coming days.
�I can confirm that three trucks have gone to Afghanistan and there are also reports about the crossing of the fourth one on Friday,� said the official who declined to be named.
�The rest of the containers are also likely to pass in the coming days,� he said.
Pakistan earlier this week said it had ordered officials to finalise an agreement as quickly as possible on lifting the blockade on overland Nato supplies to Afghanistan.
Pakistan and US officials are still negotiating rules, fees and logistics for resuming the Nato transit lines, and Islamabad has not said when Nato supplies will resume.
The United States has guaranteed payment of at least $1.1 billion should the borders reopen as compensation for fighting militants, although Pakistan believes it is owed far more, one source said.

Right after a week of liyari’s (so-called) operation, different anti government political parties are speeding up towards making connections with the banned organization People’s Amn Committee. Last week Leader of PML (N) Ghous Ali Shah along with Saleem Zia and Marvi attended the meeting with Uzair Baloch and offered him to join the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz).

The situation seems alarming to the Karachiites as People’s Amn Committee is also disowned by Pakistan People’s Party for the reasons of their affiliation with illegal activities. During the Lyari Operation, the heavy recovery of modern weapons not only shocked everyone but also it is a question mark on the status of biggest Baloch residential area Lyari in Karachi. In the presence of all these facts and figures, the thing that makes us skeptical that ‘What are the Reasons that PML (N) taking interest in allying with a terrorist organization like People’s Amn Committee? In past, PAC had also been involved in deadly massacre in Karachi on the basis of racism that was Muhajir Genocide when the rangers and police found and rescued many of the innocent abducted Karachiites from Lyari torture cells.

In the presence of all these, the connection of PML (N) with Uzair Baloch is a moment of concern for all Karachiites that whether they want to support this Terrorist organization for their entry in Karachi. This thing is only proving a thing that PML(N) is more prone towards the anti-Pakistan organizations that are involved in creating chaos and terrorism in Pakistan.
Aware of Past actions of PML(N) with Karachi is making all of us worried that are they taking some other step this time in the hatred of Karachiites.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has issued contempt of court notice to Interior Minister Rehman Malik on violating court's orders in Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) corruption case, Geo News reported Wednesday.
According to sources, the SC issued contempt notice to the interior minister on constituting a new investigating team in PSM corruption case without court's consent.
The court has directed him to respond in two weeks.
The SC issued the contempt notice while announcing the verdict in a suo moto case regarding an alleged corruption of Rs 26 billion in the PSM today. The verdict was announced by Justice Tariq Pervaiz.
The court expressed complete dissatisfaction over the investigations conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and ordered to transfer the case to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The apex court ordered the NAB chief to carry out investigations under his supervision and to conclude the case in three months. The SC also ordered to cancel the bail of accused in the case.
On March 15, a three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, reserved judgement in this regard.
